How international clothing sizes line up
Clothing sizes follow regional conventions rather than one global standard. For women's wear the handy patterns are: UK is roughly US + 4, and EU is roughly US + 32. So a US 6 is a UK 10 and an EU 38. Italian sizes run about four numbers above EU.
Always check the brand's own chart
Conversion charts get you to the right ballpark, but vanity sizing and cut mean two "size M" tops from different labels can fit very differently. Treat the result here as a starting point, then confirm against the retailer's measurements in centimetres or inches where possible.
Measure yourself for the surest fit
- Bust: around the fullest part, tape level and snug.
- Waist: around the narrowest part of your torso.
- Hips: around the fullest part, feet together.
Matching your measurements to a brand's size table beats guessing from a letter every time. Knowing your body shape also helps you pick cuts that fit without alteration.
